Welcome to my page on the World Wide Web.

It’s almost Christmas, the fishing season is well and truly over although I’ve still not unpacked the bag and stripped down the lines. Still living in hope of getting out on the bank one last time. But even now I’ve given up on getting out till next season, so it’s a case of cleaning all the gear down with a hangover this holiday.

So let’s have a look back at the season that was 2005.

We have had good days, bad days, good times and sad times.

The high point of my season was being runner up in the Newmarket angling club only loosing out to Brian who was champ for the second year in a row, something for me to aim at next season. Another high point for me this year was Dave driving to a record 3 outings.

Some of the funnier moments of the year were john loosing his landing net at Beecraigs. Then me almost falling in the harbour at Loch Fitty. At the time I didn’t find it too funny but looking back I deserved my tube of the year award.

On a very sad note Ricky Asher Snr passed away.

Ricky was a real character and a great friend to everybody in the Newmarket A.C. as well the Bad Anglers.

He will be sorely missed by everyone, I had the pleasure of fishing with Ricky a couple of trips this season. On the boat he was always great company and a laugh was never far away. On Menteith he was on top form, he caught the monster pike in the picture below. A typical gesture from Ricky, we both hooked into a fish at the same time as I was going for my limit ,Ricky let his fish run out the back and let me play my fish to the net, I got my limit Ricky lost that fish, a great gesture from a guy who was always a great boat partner. I also had the pleasure of his company at Beecraigs on his birthday and what turned out to be his last outing with the club.

A great guy who will be missed by everyone who knew him

The Asher legacy continues with his son and grandson still fishing with the club

Ricky Asher RIP

Hope everybody has a good Christmas and new year

See you next season.

Tight lines.
